Some History of the Scouts
In 1906 to 1907 Robert Baden-Powell, wrote a book for boys about reconnaissance. The book Scouting for Boys based on his earlier books about scouting in the military.Baden-Powell held a camp on Brownsea Island, Poole, Dorset, England to test ideas for his book. It is thought that this camp was responsible for the start the movement. The Scouts are now one of the largest organisation in the United Kingdom and is a global Organization. . Following the origin of Scouting in 1907, The organisation was formed in 1910. It provides camps and sports for around 450,000 kids . Apart from the Scouts it has Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, Explorer Scouts and adult members. It gives young people the chance to get outdoors and have fun.It gives young people the chance to gain experience in life skills and make new friends.The Scout method, has some elements of informal education with practical outdoor activities, such as camping, wood craft and hiking. The Chief Scout, is adventurer and author Bear Grylls.
